Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists devote around 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and quite a number podiatry training programs are located within these schools. Upon receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have received extensive medical training with a concentration on issues concerning the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are trained to care for problems extending from conventional ailments for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more perplexing including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have significant surgical instruction which supply them the experience vital to perform surgical treatment on those conditions that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Learning about biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and avoid a large number of conditions which the feet usually encounter.
