Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors spend approximately ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in fact numerous podiatry programs are located within these academic institutions. Upon getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have obtained significant healthcare training with a concentration on difficulties involving the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are skilled to deal with issues ranging from regular afflictions for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are a lot more challenging including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have comprehensive surgical education which give them the experience necessary to conduct surgery on those problems that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors likewise have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait abnormalities allows a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and defend against a large number of complications which the feet normally experience.
