Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors invest approximately 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in reality many podiatry programs lie within these schools. Upon procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received significant health care training with an importance on problems pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are studied to deal with issues stretching from usual conditions like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are a lot more obscure for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have considerable surgical education which provide them the experience vital to execute surgical treatment on those issues that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and help prevent many troubles which the feet commonly encounter.
