Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialise in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists put in around ten years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in point of fact several podiatry programs are located within these academic institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have gained significant medical education with an attention to on problems regarding the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to address conditions varying from commonplace problems for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more puzzling for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have comprehensive surgical training which furnish them the skill necessary to conduct surgery on those troubles that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait irregularities facilitates a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and help prevent many conditions which the feet generally experience.
