Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors put in an average of ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and numerous podiatry programmes are located inside these institutions. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have gained encompassing medical training with a focus on concerns involving the feet and ankles. They are instructed to address issues extending from standard ailments for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more challenging including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have considerable surgical education which provide them the practical experience needed to perform surgery on those problems that are ideally remedied through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Learning about biomechanics and gait irregularities enables a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and help prevent many problems which the feet generally encounter.
