Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors spend around a decade in learning, the first four years in undergrad studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in point of fact many podiatry programmes are contained inside these institutions. Upon getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received encompassing medical training with an emphasis on difficulties regarding the ankles and feet. They are taught to treat concerns ranging from basic problems such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more sophisticated like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have comprehensive surgical training which furnish them the prior experience required to execute surgical treatment on those problems that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait irregularities permits a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and reduce the chances of countless complications which the feet regularly experience.
