Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists spend an average of ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to typical medical school and in reality many podiatry programmes lie within these academic institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have acquired significant health care training with a concentration on conditions involving the feet and ankles. They are taught to manage concerns extending from typical ailments for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more complicated for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have substantial surgical instruction which furnish them the experience needed to perform surgical treatment on those conditions that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait deviations empowers a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and help prevent many conditions which the feet generally experience.
