Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our doctors devote around a decade in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and in fact several podiatry programs are located within these academic institutions. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have obtained encompassing healthcare training with a main focus on issues concerning the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are studied to deal with issues varying from familiar problems like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are a lot more complex for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have comprehensive surgical instruction which give them the expertise necessary to execute surgery on those complications that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait irregularities empowers a Podiatric physician to design footwear and orthotics that can offer pain relief and reduce the chances of countless issues which the feet normally experience.
