Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors spend an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and as a matter of fact a number of podiatry programmes are located within these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have acquired encompassing medical training with a focus on issues regarding the feet and ankles. They are qualified to deal with issues ranging from regular ailments like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more sophisticated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have substantial surgical training which give them the experience needed to carry out surgery on those conditions that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors likewise have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait abnormalities permits a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and protect against many issues which the feet generally experience.
