Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They invest an average of ten years in education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and actually several podiatry programmes lie within these institutions. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have acquired encompassing health care training with a focus on concerns involving the ankles and feet. They are taught to treat issues varying from basic conditions for example, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are far more complicated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical education which provide them the skill required to perform surgery on those conditions that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait deviations empowers a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and prevent many issues which the feet typically experience.
