Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our doctors devote about ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and as a matter of fact quite a number podiatry programs are located within these schools. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have gained significant health care training with a main focus on conditions regarding the feet and ankles. They are skilled to treat conditions stretching from conventional ailments for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more puzzling for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have substantial surgical education which provide them the skill necessary to conduct surgery on those complications that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait irregularities facilitates a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and prevent many issues which the feet typically encounter.
