Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists devote approximately 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and in reality quite a number podiatry training programs are contained within these academic institutions. Upon attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have received thorough medical education with a concentration on complications pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to care for issues extending from conventional problems for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more intricate like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical training which give them the prior experience needed to execute surgery on those problems that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait deviations facilitates a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and prevent many complications which the feet routinely encounter.
