Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists devote approximately 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and as a matter of fact a number of podiatry programmes lie within these academic institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have gained extensive healthcare training with a main focus on difficulties regarding the feet and ankles. They are trained to address issues ranging from conventional conditions like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more intricate for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have extensive surgical training which give them the practical experience essential to execute surgical treatment on those troubles that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities permits a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and avoid many issues which the feet frequently experience.
