Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. They invest an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to general medical school and in fact numerous podiatry programs are located within these institutions. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have obtained thorough medical training with a main focus on problems regarding the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are skilled to treat difficulties stretching from basic ailments for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more intricate like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical instruction which supply them the practical experience needed to conduct surgical treatment on those concerns that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait deviations permits a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and help prevent a large number of problems which the feet commonly experience.
