Physicians here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our doctors spend an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and as a matter of fact various podiatry programmes are located within these academic institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have gained significant medical training with an attention to on concerns involving the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to handle concerns extending from usual ailments like ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more puzzling for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have considerable surgical education which provide them the practical experience required to perform surgery on those concerns that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait deviations permits a Podiatric doctor to design footwear and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and reduce the chances of numerous conditions which the feet commonly experience.
