Foot Institute Podiatrists invest around a decade in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and actually many podiatry training programs lie within these schools. Upon acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received extensive healthcare training with an importance on problems regarding the ankles and feet. They are taught to treat problems extending from commonplace afflictions such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more sophisticated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have substantial surgical training which supply them the prior experience necessary to carry out surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities allows a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and protect against many conditions which the feet frequently encounter.
