They put in around 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and in point of fact several podiatry training programs are located within these institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have obtained extensive health care training with a concentration on issues regarding the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to treat complications varying from typical conditions like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more challenging like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical education which furnish them the experience necessary to perform surgery on those troubles that are best remedied through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors furthermore have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait deviations permits a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and help prevent many complications which the feet regularly encounter.
