Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists invest an average of 10 years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to usual medical school and in point of fact several podiatry programmes are contained within these academic institutions. Upon receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have acquired significant health care education with a focus on difficulties concerning the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are educated to care for complications stretching from regular afflictions such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more sophisticated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical education which provide them the experience crucial to carry out surgery on those problems that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait abnormalities empowers a Podiatrist to create footwear and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and reduce the chances of a large number of complications which the feet frequently encounter.
