Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie focus on the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors spend an average of 10 years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and many podiatry programmes are located inside these institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received thorough medical education with an importance on conditions involving the ankles and feet. They are studied to treat issues extending from normal conditions like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more intricate like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical training which supply them the skill needed to perform surgery on those problems that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Learning about biomechanics and gait deviations makes it easy for a Podiatric physician to create footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and protect against a large number of conditions which the feet routinely experience.
