Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialise in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors invest an average of ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to usual medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry programs are located inside these academic institutions. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have gained extensive health care training with an emphasis on concerns pertaining to the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are instructed to handle difficulties stretching from regular ailments such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more complex like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have substantial surgical education which provide them the prior experience essential to conduct surgical treatment on those issues that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait problems makes it possible for a Podiatric doctor to design footwear and orthotics that can give pain relief and minimize the risk of many conditions which the feet frequently encounter.
