Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialise in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors spend approximately a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and numerous podiatry programmes lie within these institutions. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received extensive medical instruction with a main focus on conditions regarding the feet and ankles. They are qualified to care for conditions stretching from usual problems such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more puzzling for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical training which give them the experience required to perform surgery on those complications that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait deviations empowers a Podiatric physician to develop shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and minimize the risk of a large number of problems which the feet regularly encounter.
