Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. They invest an average of ten years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and as a matter of fact various podiatry training programs are located inside these schools. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have obtained thorough medical training with a concentration on issues concerning the feet and ankles. They are instructed to deal with conditions ranging from normal ailments for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are even more sophisticated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have extensive surgical training which give them the prior experience crucial to conduct surgical treatment on those conditions that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait problems makes it possible for a Podiatric doctor to develop shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and prevent many conditions which the feet generally encounter.
