Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists here at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. They invest around ten years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles traditional medical school and in fact various podiatry programs are located within these institutions. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have received considerable medical training with an emphasis on complications regarding the feet and ankles. They are skilled to care for complications varying from regular conditions for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more sophisticated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have extensive surgical training which provide them the experience vital to carry out surgical treatment on those issues that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait deviations makes it possible for a Podiatrist to create footwear and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and help prevent numerous problems which the feet generally experience.
