Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors put in an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to typical medical school and in fact many podiatry training programs are contained inside these academic institutions. Upon receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have obtained thorough healthcare training with a focus on problems pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to treat conditions varying from common problems like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more perplexing like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical education which supply them the practical experience required to execute surgical treatment on those troubles that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait problems makes it possible for a Podiatric doctor to develop shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and prevent numerous conditions which the feet generally encounter.
