Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. They spend approximately 10 years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and a number of podiatry programs are contained inside these academic institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have gained comprehensive medical education with a stress on complications regarding the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are qualified to treat problems stretching from general problems for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more puzzling such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have extensive surgical education which furnish them the experience necessary to carry out surgical treatment on those complications that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait peculiarities facilitates a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and avoid many problems which the feet normally encounter.
