Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists spend about 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and in fact various podiatry programmes are located inside these schools. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have gained extensive health care training with an emphasis on concerns involving the feet and ankles. They are trained to deal with problems varying from usual ailments for example, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are far more intricate like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have comprehensive surgical instruction which supply them the experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those conditions that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait problems enables a Podiatric doctor to create shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and defend against numerous problems which the feet routinely encounter.
