Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie concentrate on the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. They spend approximately 10 years in education, the first four years in undergrad studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles typical medical school and in reality many podiatry programs lie inside these academic institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have acquired extensive medical training with a main focus on conditions pertaining to the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are trained to treat conditions ranging from typical disorders for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more puzzling for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have substantial surgical education which provide them the skill needed to conduct surgery on those problems that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait irregularities allows a Podiatrist to create footwear and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and prevent numerous complications which the feet routinely encounter.
