Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors devote approximately ten years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles usual medical school and in point of fact many podiatry programs lie within these academic institutions. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have obtained substantial health care education with an emphasis on problems regarding the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are taught to treat complications stretching from conventional ailments for instance, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more intricate for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have considerable surgical instruction which provide them the experience necessary to execute surgical treatment on those conditions that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Learning about biomechanics and gait problems facilitates a Podiatric doctor to design footwear and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and prevent a large number of complications which the feet commonly experience.
