Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors put in an average of a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles conventional medical school and in fact many podiatry programs are contained inside these schools. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have gained substantial medical training with a stress on difficulties concerning the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to treat issues ranging from general disorders for example, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more complex such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical education which give them the practical experience necessary to conduct surgery on those troubles that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors likewise have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait irregularities permits a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and avoid a large number of complications which the feet typically encounter.
