Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. They devote an average of a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in reality a number of podiatry programmes are located within these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received considerable health care education with a focus on problems involving the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are educated to treat concerns extending from usual disorders for instance, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more complicated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical education which supply them the experience crucial to carry out surgical treatment on those conditions that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait peculiarities permits a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and reduce the chances of a large number of troubles which the feet routinely encounter.
