They devote around ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and quite a number podiatry programmes are located within these institutions. Upon attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have acquired comprehensive health care education with a main focus on concerns involving the feet and ankles. They are taught to address problems stretching from normal ailments for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more perplexing for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical instruction which provide them the experience needed to conduct surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Knowing biomechanics and gait deviations enables a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics that can provide pain relief and minimize the risk of many complications which the feet commonly encounter.
