Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists spend an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to traditional medical school and in reality various podiatry programmes are located inside these academic institutions. Upon attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received extensive medical education with an importance on complications pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are studied to manage concerns ranging from familiar ailments like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more complex like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have considerable surgical training which provide them the experience essential to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors likewise have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait abnormalities allows a Podiatric doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and defend against many problems which the feet frequently encounter.
