Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialise in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They devote an average of 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and in reality quite a number podiatry programs are contained inside these institutions. Upon achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received encompassing health care training with a focus on problems concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are instructed to treat problems ranging from usual ailments like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more obscure such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have thorough surgical education which give them the experience necessary to conduct surgery on those problems that are best managed through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait deviations empowers a Podiatric doctor to develop footwear and orthotics that can offer pain relief and help prevent countless issues which the feet routinely encounter.
