Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They spend about 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and in fact several podiatry training programs are contained within these academic institutions. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have obtained considerable medical training with a stress on concerns involving the ankles and feet. They are studied to care for issues extending from common conditions for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more challenging for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have considerable surgical training which supply them the experience crucial to perform surgical treatment on those concerns that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Learning about biomechanics and gait problems allows a Podiatrist to create footwear and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and reduce the chances of many conditions which the feet commonly experience.
