Physicians here at The Foot Institute – Camrose specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists invest approximately a decade in learning, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to usual medical school and in fact many podiatry programmes are located inside these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.
At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received significant health care instruction with an attention to on conditions regarding the ankles and feet. They are instructed to deal with conditions stretching from typical afflictions for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more challenging such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have comprehensive surgical instruction which provide them the experience required to perform surgery on those problems that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.
Our Doctors additionally have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities permits a Foot doctor to create shoes and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and help prevent many issues which the feet usually experience.
