Doctors at The Foot Institute – Camrose concentrate on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. They devote an average of 10 years in education, the first four years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and actually a number of podiatry programs are contained inside these academic institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have gained extensive health care training with an emphasis on problems regarding the ankles and feet. They are qualified to manage problems stretching from standard ailments such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more intricate including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical education which supply them the skill necessary to perform surgery on those troubles that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait problems enables a Podiatric physician to develop shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and reduce the chances of a large number of issues which the feet generally encounter.
