Our podiatrists put in approximately 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to usual medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry programmes are located inside these schools. Upon receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have gained extensive medical instruction with a stress on complications pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are taught to handle difficulties stretching from conventional disorders for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more complex such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have substantial surgical training which supply them the skill essential to perform surgical treatment on those concerns that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait problems allows a Podiatric physician to design footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and protect against many complications which the feet regularly experience.
