Our podiatrists invest an average of 10 years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and in fact several podiatry training programs are contained within these academic institutions. Upon achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have obtained wide-ranging healthcare instruction with an emphasis on problems concerning the ankles and feet. They are instructed to manage conditions stretching from typical afflictions for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more perplexing including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have substantial surgical training which supply them the experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those complications that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities allows a Foot doctor to develop footwear and orthotics that can give pain relief and minimize the risk of many conditions which the feet frequently encounter.
