Edmonton Downtown Clinic Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Edmonton Downtown specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists devote an average of ten years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles standard medical school and a number of podiatry training programs are contained within these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have received wide-ranging medical instruction with an attention to on conditions concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are educated to treat complications stretching from general afflictions for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are even more puzzling for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have extensive surgical instruction which provide them the prior experience essential to conduct surgical treatment on those issues that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait problems enables a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and help prevent numerous problems which the feet generally encounter.
