Health professionals here at The Foot Institute – Leduc specialise in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists devote around ten years in learning, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Upon achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received comprehensive health care training with a focus on problems pertaining to the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to treat issues ranging from regular ailments such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more sophisticated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have extensive surgical education which furnish them the expertise necessary to conduct surgery on those conditions that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors additionally have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait peculiarities allows a Podiatric physician to develop footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and avoid numerous complications which the feet normally experience.
