St. Albert Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – St. Albert focus on the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists put in around a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and in fact a number of podiatry programmes are located within these academic institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have obtained comprehensive healthcare instruction with a focus on conditions involving the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are trained to handle problems stretching from basic disorders for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more obscure like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have extensive surgical training which provide them the skill essential to conduct surgical treatment on those problems that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait irregularities enables a Podiatrist to develop footwear and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and protect against many conditions which the feet generally encounter.
