Cochrane Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians here at The Foot Institute – Cochrane provide services for the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. They invest around ten years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles general medical school and in reality numerous podiatry programmes are located within these academic institutions. Upon procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received comprehensive medical instruction with a stress on problems pertaining to the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are instructed to handle problems ranging from regular conditions for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are even more complicated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical education which furnish them the experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those complications that are ideally handled through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait problems allows a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and defend against many troubles which the feet typically encounter.
