Calgary Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Calgary focus on the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our doctors devote an average of ten years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in point of fact a number of podiatry programs are located inside these institutions. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have acquired substantial medical instruction with a concentration on issues involving the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are skilled to address conditions extending from commonplace problems like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more challenging for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical education which give them the prior experience required to conduct surgical treatment on those issues that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Comprehending biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and prevent many troubles which the feet typically encounter.
