Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialise in the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. They invest an average of ten years in learning, the first four years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and as a matter of fact many podiatry training programs are contained within these academic institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have received encompassing healthcare education with a focus on issues pertaining to the ankles and feet. They are studied to address conditions stretching from standard ailments like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more complicated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical training which furnish them the skill essential to perform surgery on those problems that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it possible for a Podiatric physician to develop footwear and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and defend against many conditions which the feet generally encounter.
