Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They devote approximately 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry programs lie within these academic institutions. Upon achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have obtained wide-ranging health care training with an emphasis on concerns concerning the ankles and feet. They are taught to deal with difficulties varying from simple afflictions like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more challenging including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical education which furnish them the prior experience vital to carry out surgery on those problems that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait deviations enables a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and reduce the chances of many troubles which the feet normally encounter.
