Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. They put in approximately a decade in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry training programs are located within these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have acquired extensive medical training with an importance on problems involving the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are skilled to care for issues stretching from common conditions for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more perplexing for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have comprehensive surgical instruction which furnish them the experience necessary to perform surgical treatment on those issues that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors additionally have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it possible for a Podiatric doctor to design footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and reduce the chances of countless problems which the feet commonly encounter.
