Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists put in about ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to usual medical school and several podiatry programs are contained within these institutions. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have obtained extensive medical education with a stress on problems regarding the feet and ankles. They are skilled to manage conditions extending from simple ailments such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more puzzling for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have substantial surgical instruction which supply them the prior experience crucial to execute surgical treatment on those problems that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks.
