Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists invest approximately ten years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and several podiatry programmes lie within these institutions. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received encompassing medical education with a main focus on problems concerning the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are instructed to handle issues extending from normal conditions for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are a lot more puzzling including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have thorough surgical training which provide them the expertise required to execute surgery on those concerns that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait deviations makes it easy for a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and help prevent numerous problems which the feet routinely experience.
