Fort McMurray Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Fort McMurray - Thickwood Heights specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors put in approximately 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles traditional medical school and in fact several podiatry programmes are contained inside these academic institutions. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have acquired encompassing health care training with an emphasis on issues involving the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to treat problems stretching from simple ailments such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are a lot more complex including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical instruction which provide them the skill vital to execute surgery on those conditions that are ideally managed through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics that can offer pain relief and prevent numerous problems which the feet regularly experience.
