Edmonton Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Edmonton provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors spend an average of a decade in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles traditional medical school and quite a number podiatry programs lie within these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received encompassing healthcare education with a main focus on difficulties involving the ankles and feet. They are skilled to deal with conditions ranging from common disorders like ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more perplexing for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical instruction which supply them the experience crucial to perform surgery on those concerns that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait deviations enables a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and prevent numerous problems which the feet normally encounter.
